Tumbalalaika quartet version (pdf digital download)

Sample of the score for this piece

Description

One of our most popular pieces!  This is a fun and impressive sounding arrangement of the Jewish folksong, “Tumbalalaika”.  A Jewish lullaby, “Raisins and Almonds” is heard in the middle of the piece, and the two tunes are woven together at the end, giving the impression of a baby who just wants to play instead of going to sleep.

This piece is a lot of fun to play, and audiences are thrilled by it.

Our original arrangement of this is for quintet, but the quartet version here was later commissioned by the Fred Fox School of Music.  It is scored for trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba.  We also have it arranged for trio.

Below is a recording of the quintet version.  The quartet version is very similar (and not shortened, like the trio version).

Duration:  about 4 minutes
